Calamity

And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. (Luke 2:9, 10 ESV)

Morning soon–may I ask
what brings you eagerly awaiting
me? You color the trees & ground beneath this bed where I have taken to
sleep.

You, patient, greet me with a kiss-
hues yellow, orange
but I will not move,
a rock under the foot of this world,
cold, unresponsive-
my limbs older than days I’ve spent
alone.

Wrapped in blues,
wonder takes me in &
makes a home in what ignorance cares not to know: I am so far from the arms where true love is joy without bind.
