On The Ledge

If we were more of an open window,
arms outstretched, embracing wind gusts as they blew,
would we stand heel to sill,
accepting our flaws,
knowing full well that You catch our gaze as we fall?

You are the nesting for each of us: birds calling & waiting for healing from every inevitable bruise-
a nation leaving collective bodies
in the wake of black & blue.
