Apology

I can’t even look
into His eyes –
watering affection
though my anger turns
confrontational.

I have blazed fire,
caring not for cries
of my confused mother-

“I don’t care.” fuming under
pain singeing hasty lips,
third degree burns
to this heart.

I lay here now,
reprimanding myself with ashes
of this day, forgiveness undeserved
from prate displayed in 4 year old attitude.

  1. I truly like your writing style; if feels somehow very classic in the way it reads and flows and yet has a fresh feeling as if one were experiencing this rhythm for the first time. a great poem. – Stephen
