sing Me your song

a sparrow sits
perched on an envelope,
penned in purple ink lighter
than a bruise I hear in words
of a broken heart.

she stares hard
at the whitespace,
waiting for the Son’s
stroke against weathered
feathers: it’s alright now, I’m here.
